Fifteen to twenty minutes to Garrison Avenue by Southern Boulevard, or the van comes to a side street near you for the same money. Fitting takes 60 to 90 minutes and the bond needs an hour after that. Ordinary commuter cars land between $250 and $450.

Almost every car we replace glass on from around Fordham Road is an everyday vehicle, and the glass for those is inexpensive and usually in the rack. That is the main reason our number tends to come in lower than people expect when they ring around. There is no premium here for a car being old, no supplement for the model being unglamorous, and no separate charge for taking the broken windshield away. You get one figure, and it includes the moldings and the adhesive.
The work runs the same way every time. Exact glass for the year, make, model and options, the old urethane trimmed back to a clean bed, bare metal primed so nothing rusts under the trim, a fresh bead, new moldings, and the full safe drive-away time observed before you take the keys. Cars carrying a camera behind the mirror get it recalibrated, quoted separately so you can see what that part costs. Where quality aftermarket glass will do the same job as the dealer part, we say so and show you both prices rather than quietly picking the expensive one for you. Ring with the year, make and model and we will tell you which of the two your car is before you commit to anything.
“We went here today, a cold Sunday afternoon, after the right rear window was broken into. They were well-priced, the staff was friendly, and they worked fast! My new go-to spot for this type of emergency!”

Fordham Road itself rarely breaks a windshield, since nothing moves fast enough there to throw a stone with any force. What it does is make the repair awkward to arrange, because curb space along the avenue is enforced hard and the bus lane rules out the obvious spots. The damage comes from the roads people use to leave: the Major Deegan and the Cross Bronx, both truck-heavy and both permanently patched. So the pattern here is a windshield chipped on a highway and then finally cracked while parked on a residential block off the avenue, and the practical problem is finding somewhere legal and calm to replace it. We normally arrange to meet the car a street or two north rather than on the strip.
Same service, same price, other Bronx neighborhoods:
Not on the avenue. We ask for a residential side street, a driveway if you have access to one, or a lot where the tech is not working with buses at his back. A windshield needs the van close enough to carry a large pane and enough clear space at the front of the car to reach the base of the glass, which the strip simply does not offer.
Not in terms of safety. Quality aftermarket windshields are made to meet or exceed the same federal standards the dealer part meets, with the same laminate construction. What can differ is the exact tint band, the acoustic layer on some models, and bracket detailing. We tell you where those differences exist for your car and quote both, and plenty of drivers still choose the dealer part.
