There is no subway out here, so a car off the road is a genuine problem and we plan around it. If your glass is in stock we can usually turn a windshield around in a single visit at the house. If the vehicle is a pickup, a full-size van or something less common, the glass may need a day or two to arrive, so we say which it is up front rather than after you have cleared your Saturday. Two visits when one was promised is worse than a slower honest answer.
The install itself is standard: exact glass for the build, old urethane cut back, bare metal primed, fresh bead, new moldings, camera calibration where the vehicle has one. What is not standard out here is what we find underneath. Salt air off the water gets into the pinch weld on older vehicles, and rust under the trim has to be dealt with before new glass goes on, because urethane bonds to sound metal or it does not bond at all. If we find it, you see it, and you hear what it adds before we do anything about it.

Cars queuing for the Throgs Neck and the Bronx-Whitestone sit in slow, truck-heavy lanes over expansion joints and patched approach pavement, and stone lifted off that surface lands on the glass behind. It is a low-speed impact more often than a highway one, which tends to leave a neat star rather than a long crack, and neat stars are exactly what a resin fill is for if you catch them in time. The second local factor is salt. Waterfront air works on wiper arms, moldings and the metal edge under the glass, so on any vehicle over ten years old we look hard at that edge before quoting a replacement.
